Christmas 2005
Greetings from the Burgett/Wearstler family!

This has been an adventuresome year; that’s for sure! And there’s no reason to believe things will slow down in 2006.
Amanda just turned 15 and is a freshman at Fairview Junior High. She’s learning to buckle down and make school work a priority and enjoys it when she receives good grades. She loves to read fantasy books and is very into anime. In June she was appointed as Correspondent to Indiana and so we hope to take a trip there next June for their Grand Assembly. She is very active in her local Rainbow Assembly, currently serving as Worthy Associate Advisor and making plans for her term as Worthy Advisor.

Amelia graduated from high school in June and was promoted to Checker at Albertsons in early October. She loves her job and is still undecided about school. She has a special interest in a young man who is serving in the Air Force. Tanner will be coming home for a short time over Christmas before going to his new post in Japan. Amelia is driving a 93 Ford Taurus these days. It makes for a tight fit when the whole family climbs in, dogs and all, but we still appreciate having wheels.

Lyle still experiences long work days, commuting to Seattle to work at the Lighthouse For The Blind. He leaves at 5:30 each morning with Madison at his side, and returns home around 7:00 each night. Thank goodness he enjoys his job. He loves working with his hands and tools, and apparently does a great job. In October he was elected by his peers as Worker of the Year for the GSA department at the Lighthouse. In February, the Lighthouse Worker of the Year will be announced, the winner being taken from the 6 or 7 department winners. During the summer, he keeps an active green thumb, with a garden not only growing in produce, but also in volume, planting more and more each year.

Cindy is working with a new guide dog these days. Geneva is a 3-ear-old German shepherd with a very sweet and fun disposition and top notch work ethic. She was able to receive in-home training with Geneva from GDB because training with a previous guide in January didn’t work out. Cindy has done a lot of traveling this year as President of WCB and as a member of the BOP for ACB, racking up those frequent flyer miles. She has flown to: Washington DC, Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Las Vegas Nevada, Long Beach California, Salina Kansas and Louisville Kentucky. Oh yes, and of course numerous activities with WCB, including the state convention at the end of October, participation on the State Rehab Council for Services for the Blind, and being an active Advisory Board member for Rainbow Girls have all contributed to keeping her busy and out of trouble.

With wood burning in our stove and our 3 precious pooches, Arabelle, Madison and Geneva close by, our home is cozy and filled with much love. And we now take the time to extend that warmth and love to all of you by wishing you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a joyous and healthy 2006.
