I can't believe that a month which got off to such a busy start could slow down as it has. But it has. And it feels good too!

Monday Wednesday and Friday of last week, a few friends came over each day for us to watch a movie together. We watched Ray, Cheaper By The Dozen & Finding Nemo. All 3 days we also had lunch together. It was such a nice time that I decided to invite folks over again this week for double features. So on Monday we watched Shreck & Shreck 2, doing a pot luck lunch during intermission. Today was Sister Act & Sister Act, Back In The Habit, and we ordered pizza in for lunch. Each day we've had 4 to 6 of us and it's just been a nice, relaxing, enjoyable time. Of course these movies we're watching are all with audio description.

On Friday evening, 21 of us from our PCB chapter went to Red Robin for a celebration dinner, celebrating the return home of Jeff who'd been out to sea for a few months. Sarah and his precious little family wanted to include us in their happiness and it was a great time of socializing and eating good food. Amelia and I went from our family as Lyle wasn't home from work yet and Amanda was gone to Dream Camp for the weekend. I think Amelia had the best time of all as she flirted with our server the entire evening and left with his phone number. She and Reuben have talked many times since and today he took her out on a date to the Rain Forest Cafe.

On Saturday, I attended the wedding of our WCB 2nd VP and my friend, Julie. My mom and grandma went along with me and my mom drove us. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a very nice time. Geneva behaved herself appropriately but the weather was hot and she just wouldn't drink enough water for my liking.

On Sunday, Amelia and I joined her Rainbow Assembly at Dream Camp which is in Granit Falls. We left the house at 7:00am and drove 50 minutes to the Kingston Ferry, waited until the 8:35 boat, which was a half-hour ride to Edmonds. And then had an hour drive to the camp. This was by far the most driving Amelia's done and I'm very grateful that we had someone to follow each direction. Again the weather was very hot and Geneva wouldn't drink much water and got a bit dehydrated. While at the camp, we had to walk a bit to get to where the festivities were taking place, and she had lots of doggy distractions, but we made it to our destinations. We got home around 6:00pm.

Today Arabelle & Geneva went to the vet for a bath and nail trimming. Arabelle doesn't like going there because she hates to be left. She kept looking at the door and whining as if to say, "please just let me go out of this place." Geneva didn't know what was going to happen, so she was her happy, perky self while waiting for the assistant to come out and get them. Geneva went back willingly and Arabelle went back hesitantly. When I went back to pick them up this afternoon, Arabelle, who usually greets me with excitement and craziness was ultra calm. However, Geneva was the one going nuts. She jumped on me, circled around me & whined, actually more like cried, very loud and constant, as if to say, "oh, you're back. You're back! I didn't think you were going to come back. I'm so happy to see you!" And then she flopped herself on the floor for me to pet her tummy and give her those lovings she'd been dreaming about while I was gone. Arabelle just sat there the whole 2 minutes as if to say, "I told you she'd come back. I knew it all along." Anyway, now we have 3 clean dogs as Madison had his bath yesterday.

Now I'll close with a Spud update. On Thursday I wrote to Ben and asked for an update. On Friday I received an email from Ben letting me know that the day before, Thursday, August 11, Spud was adopted. He asked if I would be interested in him asking the adopting family to contact me and of course I said yes. I'd really love to be able to share my Spud journal with them. But I haven't heard anything since. I know that it's up to Spud's new family to decide whether to have contact with me and I'll respect their decision. But oh how I'd love to... At least I know he was well enough health wise to be adopted out and that he's now got a permanent home and a family who are going to be showered with his love and affection. I feel such joy in knowing this.

Yes, I have found closure about Spud. I know that Spud is just another chapter in my life; a precious chapter. But sometimes chapters are nice to revisit.

Hugs & wags,

Cindy & Geneva
