What a day this has been. We left the house at 6:00am and returned at 9:00pm. 15 hours, much of it on the road, but truly one hour is what stands out to me. It was a magical hour filled with more love and joy than this guide dog team could've hoped for. Upon arriving at the SeaTac Doubletree, my dad and I walked in through the main entrance and Geneva and I came to a stop, waiting to see if we would be greeted by the Frisbie's. My dad then said that he thought the couple walking toward us was them. Geneva didn't make a move, and there they stood within 5 feet of us. And then... Dick said in a high to low pitch sing-song way, "E-e-e-e-e-e-e-vil." And my sweet mannered, professional working dog transformed instantly into their Neevers puppy, racing toward Dick with great excitement, putting her front paws on his legs, wagging her tail, and just doing a very happy dance. She then moved over to Claudia with that same bounce in her being. As Geneva continued to give them all the love and attention they traveled from Denver to Seattle to receive, we decided that such a display of guide dog affection would probably be better carried out in a less busy area of the hotel. So we walked to a little lounge area and continued our visit which lasted about an hour. We got pictures taken, talked about Geneva as a puppy and Geneva as my guide, and just had a wonderful sharing time. Claudia aroused a whine out of Geneva as she did a silly laugh, and both Dick and Claudia spent most of the time touching our girl with pets, pats and rubs. Claudia and Dick brought Geneva a squeaky toy duck that comes with replacer squeakers, and I gave them a silver picture frame with Geneva's name engraved on it with a photo in it of Geneva and me together. Our time together was much too short, but oh how precious! I know my dad was impressed with the way Geneva responded to her first parents, recognizing how she knew them and remembered them, and how obvious the love from Claudia and Dick shined through for Geneva. None of this surprised me though. Their love for her is shown to me every day through Geneva and her love and care for me. And I hope they felt a sense of comfort and peace knowing that Geneva is with someone who loves her as much as I do. I am so glad that Claudia and Dick were able to fit into their travel plans a stop in Seattle, and that my dad was willing to make our day a little longer, so that tonight's meeting could take place. This will always be a treasured memory for me. Hugs & wags, Cindy and Geneva
